Our Pre-K students continue to develop their budding literacy and math skills through hands-on, intentional learning experiences that are geared to stimulate and excite them. Our lesson plans allow them to learn from their teacher while also benefiting from interacting and learning from their classmates. Our Pre-K students are encouraged to awaken their creativity through crafting and building meant to develop their gross and fine motor skills

Jennice Jackson was born in Detroit, Michigan and is a proud Oregon native, having lived in the Portland and Aloha, Oregon area for over 50 years. Family has always been at the heart of everything Jennice does, and that foundation guides her approach to childcare each and every day.
Jennice has been happily married to her husband, Calvin
Jennice Jackson was born in Detroit, Michigan and is a proud Oregon native, having lived in the Portland and Aloha, Oregon area for over 50 years. Family has always been at the heart of everything Jennice does, and that foundation guides her approach to childcare each and every day.
Jennice has been happily married to her husband, Calvin Jackson, for over 35 years. Together, they have raised a loving family of eight children—five boys and three girls—and are blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As both a mother and grandmother, Jennice understands how important it is for parents to feel confident, comfortable, and supported when leaving their children in someone else’s care.
Her passion for early childhood care grew naturally from her own family experiences. Wanting to provide families with a safe, nurturing, and dependable environment, Jennice opened J. Jackson Family Childcare LLC in 2016. Her goal has always been to create a “home away from home” where children feel loved, respected, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.
Jennice’s & her Husband Calvin background in childcare includes community-based trainings, college coursework in education, and years of hands-on experience caring for children of all ages. And had a pre-apprentice for Jefferson high school program where they worked aside construction workers to learn the Trade. She believes in building strong relationships with both children and parents, fostering open communication, and partnering with families to support each child’s development.
When she is not caring for children, Jennice enjoys spending time with her family, celebrating holidays, listening to music, and relaxing with her husband while watching a good comedy movie from her favorite Lazy Boy chair.

Calvin Jackson was born in Jacksonville, Florida and has been a dedicated resident of Portland, Oregon for over 50 years. With more than four decades as the owner of a successful construction company, Calvin brings a strong foundation of leadership, responsibility, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional career, Calvin has devoted much of his time to mentoring youth through Construction Hope, where he helped young people develop practical construction skills while learning the values of teamwork, accountability, and work ethic.
Calvin has always worked alongside his wife, Jennice, providing consistent support to the childcare and its daily operations. Together, they also partnered with Jefferson High School to establish a pre-apprenticeship program, collaborating with industry professionals to offer students meaningful, hands-on learning experiences in construction trades.
Calvin’s lifelong dedication to education, mentorship, and family-centered values reflects the caring, dependable environment parents can trust for their children.

Latonja Jackson was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Portland, Oregon at a young age. From the start, she carried a natural gift for caring for others and a deep passion for helping children grow and succeed.

In Portland, Latonja has dedicated herself to uplifting young people through her community work and her service at House of Healing Church, where she plays an active role in the Children’s Ministry. There, she helps nurture children’s spiritual growth through creative lessons, hands-on activities, and a joyful approach to learning about faith.
Latonja also contributes her time to community programs that support youth development — providing meals, offering mentorship, and helping children strengthen social and life skills. Her warm, compassionate spirit brings comfort and encouragement to every child she meets.
Guided by her belief that small acts of kindness can create lasting change, Latonja continues to invest her heart and time into building brighter futures. Whether in the classroom, the church, or the community, she leads with faith, love, and dedication to helping every child feel valued and capable.
